Asian Exuberance: A Stunning Asian-Inspired Paris Wedding Editorial

Editorial

There are projects in a wedding photographer career that leave a mark—professionally, artistically, and personally. This editorial is undoubtedly one of them. Six years after starting my journey as a Paris wedding photographer, I dreamed of creating an editorial that would reflect my entrance into the world of high-end weddings. I envisioned visuals that were modern, fashion-forward, and full of light—a hallmark of my photography style. This project was designed to showcase the innovative possibilities of wedding photography, bridging the worlds of fashion and weddings. For such an ambitious undertaking, I needed a wedding planner with impeccable taste and exceptional organizational skills. Enter Elisa from Romance Wedding Paris, whose talent and vision made this collaboration unforgettable.

A French Chateau with Asian-Inspired Elegance

For this editorial, we imagined how a couple of Asian heritage might celebrate their wedding in a quintessential French château. The chosen venue, Château de Nainville-les-Roches, located less than an hour from Paris, provided the perfect backdrop. Recently renovated with classic elegance, the château blends traditional French charm with modern amenities. To honor both the couple’s heritage and the French setting, we collaborated with the talented Indonesian graphic artist Kurniawan Ho Wijaya. He created a wedding stationery that fused Asian motifs with French artistry, including hand-painted invitations featuring the château and innovative « red envelopes »(hongbao 紅包) adorned with paper swallows for a creative twist on tradition.

A Modern Bride with Cultural Roots

Elisa from Romance Wedding Paris styled the bride with a modern yet culturally resonant vision. The bride wore a Tony Ward gown, a sleek, floral-embroidered dress with a dramatic open back and a row of delicate buttons reminiscent of the traditional Chinese qipao 旗袍. This stunning look struck a perfect balance between Western bridal elegance and Asian heritage, setting the tone for the rest of the editorial.

A Palette of Red for Trend and Style

In Asian cultures, red symbolizes joy and marital bliss, making it a fitting choice for this wedding editorial. The talented floral designer Véronique Lorre crafted a vibrant red color palette, which also aligns with 2025 wedding trends. The tablescape merged French art de vivre with Asian tradition, featuring Maison Options’ gold-accented tableware, red chopsticks from Cutipol, and Kurniawan’s intricately designed place cards—magnolia flowers folded by hand in red and white to signify guests and the couple, respectively. The result was a chic, festive celebration of cultural harmony.

A Stunning Traditional Wedding Qipao

No Asian wedding is complete without multiple bridal looks. For this editorial, we showcased a traditional qipao in a modern beige hue, crafted by Renee Couture in Indonesia. This bespoke gown featured exquisite hand-embroidered details, with every bead carefully sewn by hand. Renee Couture completed this masterpiece in just six weeks, a testament to their extraordinary craftsmanship.

A Reimagined Wedding Tea Ceremony

The tea ceremony is a cherished tradition in Asian weddings, where couples honor their elders by offering tea. We reimagined this ritual as an intimate moment for the couple to share before their big day unfolded. Using Wedgewood tea sets with handles and geometric motifs inspired by Zhou dynasty designs, we seamlessly blended cultural symbolism with Western aesthetics. Cakes by Meri complemented the theme with a modern, asymmetrical wedding cake adorned with Chinese cloud motifs and sugar flowers reminiscent of fine porcelain.

A Golden Tony Ward Finale

The day concluded with a dazzling evening celebration. The bride wore a show-stopping golden gown by Tony Ward, evoking the opulence of Louis XIV’s court. Makeup artist Jen Ho, based in Hong Kong but working frequently in France, enhanced the bride’s radiant look with gold leaf accents. This glamorous ensemble was the perfect fit for a celebration worthy of a red-carpet premiere.

A Venue Full of Possibilities

Beyond the curated scenes—ceremony arch, dinner tablescape, and tea ceremony—the expansive interiors and gardens of Château de Nainville-les-Roches offered endless opportunities for breathtaking shots. From the elegant rotunda to the lush outdoor spaces, the venue’s charm elevated every moment.

A Wedding Vendors Collaborative Masterpiece

The atmosphere was filled with creativity and mutual respect, making this project one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed their talents to bring this vision to life.

Capturing this Wedding Editorial Through Film

As I captured the photographs for this wedding editorial, the exceptionally talented Pierre Froger brought the project to life through videography. His wedding films are the epitome of modernity and creativity, and this one was no exception. The resulting video is a stunning montage that beautifully conveys the emotion and artistry of this project. I find myself watching it repeatedly, captivated by how it perfectly encapsulates the beauty of our vision.

As a Paris wedding photographer, capturing this Asian-inspired wedding editorial was a career-defining moment. It perfectly embodied the fusion of cultural traditions and modern trends, demonstrating the innovative possibilities within wedding photography.
